The Chron's Lance Scott Walker reviews a new club called the Corridor:
Besides, the Corridor is actually cool. For one, it's on a side street, and if you've read this blog enough, you know that I sing, scream and shout the praises of any business (especially a nightclub) that has enough faith in the good folks of Houston to plant their business on anything other than a major thoroughfare. It's rare. It's kind of nice. A front-row view of a big street is just that. Having to traipse down an alleyway to get to your place of nightlife worship is unique for this town.Which ties into the other reasons I dig the Corridor -- which are multi-fold. For starters, it just doesn't feel like it's in Houston. Don't take that the wrong way, kids -- it's just that clubs open up here all the time in spaces that housed clubs that were pretty well laid out just like the one that came before. The rooms are gutted, a couple of new walls are put in, a fresh coat of paint is brushed on, a whole new platoon of bartenders is hired and BAM! You have a "new" club. It probably happens in every town, but I see it here a lot.
As much as Walker likes the Corridor, he does add that he thinks the drink prices are a little too downtown if you know what I mean.
