Is Google Analytics accurate?

First I must preface this post with the fact I LOVE Google Analytics. It's a great tool that lets you analyze your web traffic with lots of metrics. The best part? It's very easy to set up and FREE! Can't beat that.

But...

At the last BlogHOUSTON meetup, bloggers were saying the site does not always appear to count every visitor. How'd they know that? They matched Analytics' results to their server stat counters.

I had never considered this. What can I say, my faith is strong in Google after using their many products.

There is no other stat counter to compare with for this blog, but there is on the Consumer Blog. After checking those server side stats for a few weeks and comparing those to Analytics, I found the same thing those other bloggers were talking about. In fact the difference was fairly drastic and positive for me on the amount of uncounted traffic.

Still, I love Google Analytics because of the measurement features it offers and will keep using it. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
