The best of the worst dot com companies

The WSJ has a funny article on the the best of the worst dot com companies. I love this topic. Probably because I was coming out of school at the time and was caught up in the excitement.

However I didn't actually go to work for one. I did attend a couple of recruiting seminars though and they made the times seem fun. Always had free food too!

Unfortunately I had friends hit hard times as a result of the bust.

Remember the Cue Cat? It's mentioned. I actually had one connected to my computer at my old station. Even sort of used it once or twice. Guess that was the problem, that's how we all used it. The article says they are up on eBay now:
Still, the digital feline has since managed a second life. Computer hackers figured out a way to "declaw the cat" by snipping a small wire that lets them use the scanner to reach sites or read any bar code without leaving a trail for marketers. Scores of CueCats are available for purchase on eBay, with sellers touting the device's usefulness as an inexpensive, personal barcode scanner to catalog books, CDs, videocassettes, and DVDs.
I think I threw mine away. What a missed opportunity. Oh well, I'll get over it. Too bad I never tried the iSmell. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
