Here is what the release says that will mean:
In addition, parents will have online access to records of their child's cafeteria meal purchases and eating habits, be able to set up accounts to pay for meals, and be able to block the use of account funds to buy foods in the cafeteria that they don't want their child to eat.
But this system does more than just benefit the parents:
With the new system, HISD will be better able to determine at the time a student's meal is served whether he or she has special nutritional or medical needs and qualifies for free or reduced-priced meals. It will also help the district to control costs and meet state and federal nutrition and data-reporting guidelines.
So this is a project managementent system for hungry kids. Interesting note, Cybersoft is a Houston-based company. Glad to see the district keep it in the family if you will.
Not much more info other than that. The Chron wrote an article earlier this month about the district voting on the system. Now we know the outcome. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
