What would Houston be without its freeway system? It's a love/hate relationship between us and the big roads that always seem to have orange cones and guys with hard hats on them.
Last year I wrote a 13 Clicks on how to keep track of the Houston freeways with a major emphasis on the reason it takes me longer to get home from work than to get there - Spur 527.
You know a construction project is a big deal when the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) creates a page for it. This page gives a good overview of the project, future plans, current closings...etc. Doesn't look too updated right now, but then again, these phases take so long there's probably nothing to change.
Not to be outdone, the Southwest Corridor Facilitation Team gives us another Spur 527 page. This page was created by the neighborhoods that surround this project to keep angry drivers from detouring through their area.
But there are pictures too. Houstonfreeways.com took pictures of the old outgoing Spur coming down. Ahh the memories.
On a daily basis, you might want to check out abc13.com's traffic page and abc13now.com's traffic map on your phone to avoid the big slow downs.
