Google has a new music search

Trying to keep up with Google is tiresome. Steffen Fjaervik at Poynter points out how the search engine now has a music search:

Google Music lets you search for a record for which you only have the title. Let's say it's called "Plans." You'll easily find that it could be latest "Death Cab for Cutie" album. Which is a brilliant album, by the way.

What sets the service apart from other music searches is that just a couple of words from a lyric is enough. Take this rather original line: "The pain was enough to make a shy, bald Buddhist reflect and plan a mass murder." It's quite easy to find that it's from the song "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before," featured on The Smiths' last studio album, "Strangeways Here We Come."

What I really like, also, is the function where I can see all versions of a certain song, like The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry." Thus, I found a couple of versions I'll be sure to check out.

Finding info about songs online can be tough because of all the junk you have to wade through. Looks like Google is back again to make it a little easier on us. CONTACT: Leave me a Houston or Texas media news tip | COMMENT: Click to leave your thoughts on this post here
