Shannon Ryan announced on social that this is her last week as an ABC13 Houston KTRK reporter.
Ryan joined ABC13 in March 2023 from FOX 7 Austin KTBC, where she spent four years as a crime, courts, and investigative reporter. During her time in Austin, she covered the city’s reimagining of public safety initiatives, the housing crisis, public corruption, the legal system, and trends in violent crime. She also traveled for major breaking news, including extreme weather events and stories from the Texas–Mexico border, as part of FOX’s O&O group.
Before moving to Texas, Ryan began her career in Washington, D.C., serving as an anchor, producer, and multimedia journalist for DC News Now (DCW50/WDVM). Her work as a television, print, and photojournalist has appeared in The New York Times, ESPN, the Associated Press, and The Washington Post.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Ryan earned degrees in broadcast journalism and political science. While in school, she interned at CBS News and gained additional experience with the Big Ten Network, FOX 29 Philadelphia, ESPNU, and WNYT NewsChannel 13. She also worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer for Penn State’s student-run WPSU-TV.
Originally from Saratoga County, New York, Ryan is a 200-hour RYT-certified yoga instructor.
