SportsRadio 610 (KILT-AM), an Audacy sports station in Houston, raised $27,240 during its inaugural “Reggie and Ron Radiothon” benefiting the Houston Food Bank. All proceeds go toward the Houston Food Bank’s mission to eliminate food insecurity in southeast Texas and ensure Texans have access to nutritious food to fuel a healthy life.
“We are committed to using our voice to make a difference in the Houston community and are incredibly proud of the outcome of our first ‘Reggie and Ron Radiothon,’”’ said Parker Hillis, Brand Manager, SportsRadio 610. “Our listeners stepped up to fight food insecurity, showing the deep connection they have with our station and our city.”
The “Reggie and Ron Radiothon” hosted by “In the Loop” host Reggie Adetula and “The Drive with Stoerner and Hughley” host Ron Hughley took place July 3, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT. The day featured stories, guest appearances including Houston Food Bank’s Chief Development Officer, and special segments encouraging listeners to donate. During the live broadcast, Tucker “Frito” Young and Katy Dempsey from sister station 100.3 The Bull (KILT-FM) ran Adetula and Hughley through their “Money Minute” game with the loser donating $100. Jessie Watt, host from sister station Mix 96.5 (KHMX-FM), challenged Adetula and Hughley to “Jessie’s College of Hollywood Knowledge,” and whoever lost donated $100.
“Houston Food Bank is continually touched by the thoughtfulness and generosity of our fellow Houstonians, from individuals to foundations to companies,” says Brian Greene, President and CEO, Houston Food Bank. “We thank Audacy, Sports Radio 610, and everyone who participated in the Radiothon to make this inaugural event a huge success, bringing in an amazing $27,240, which will provide 81,720 meals for those facing food insecurity. Now more than ever, Houston Food Bank needs and appreciates the help of our community, which has a direct impact on the neighbors we serve. Together we provide food for better lives in Houston and 18 counties in southeast Texas.”
SportsRadio 610’s “Reggie and Ron Radiothon” is a part of Audacy’s commitment to making a meaningful difference at scale. Audacy uses its reach and personal connection with listeners to advance causes that promote strong mental health and build sound communities.
