Don Brubaker returned to the 25 News Now KAVU Victoria evening anchor desk this week after around a month of medical leave.
While wearing a visible bandage, Brubaker told viewers that skin cancer was removed from his forehead on June 25th, during two procedures. One was the removal process, the other reconstructive surgery.
"I'm wearing a bunch of makeup, but so far, so good," Brubaker said during the newscast. "And thanks for all the people who said, 'We've missed you, Don.' Well, I'm back."
Brubaker celebrated 40 years with KAVU in 2024. He started with the sports team in 1984. As one of the country's longest-serving sports anchors, Brubaker was promoted to the evening anchor desk in 2020.
