Many morning television anchors seem like family, but at KRIS 6 Sunrise Corpus Christi, the Hofmann morning anchor pair are married thanks to Cupid's newsroom arrow.
Michelle Lorenzo and Bryan Hofmann met while working together at KTVN 2 Reno, Nevada. Many news deadlines later, they were engaged live during a newscast!
A job change brought them to Texas in 2022 at KRIS-TV, where Lorenzo became the morning anchor and Hoffman the investigative reporter.
The TV news couple said I do with a summer 2024 wedding. Morning meteorologist Stefanie Lauber was even the ceremony's officiant.
That following October, Hoffman left his investigative role and joined his new bride as her morning co-anchor.
Since it's Valentine's Day, mikemcguff.com did a "love investigation" to discover how the newlyweds juggle anchoring together and married life.
Mike McGuff: So, how has it been going these last few months since you started anchoring together in the mornings?
Michelle Hofmann: It feels like a dream come true, both professionally and personally, to be able to spend my days with my soulmate while doing what we love. Sure, waking up at 2 a.m. every day has its challenges, but the joy of working together far outweighs the exhaustion. This experience has only drawn us closer, in ways I didn’t think were possible. It’s constantly reminding us to communicate with patience, love, and a deep understanding of one another. Every day, I’m in awe of Bryan’s unwavering work ethic, and being by his side as a reporter and anchor continues to inspire me to be the best version of myself—both in my career and in life.
Bryan Hofmann: Getting used to the hours is the only downside. This has been a goal for us for years, and I’m so excited every day to spend my time next to my best friend (and flirt a little with her on air too!) The best part is, she continues to challenge me to be a better journalist, in my writing, shooting and editing. It may sound a little corny, but I feel we are the ultimate news power couple.
What was it like working on different schedules?
M: In the 6 ½ years we’ve been together—and working alongside one another—we’ve experienced times when our schedules were completely opposite. It wasn’t always easy, especially when we found ourselves on different sleeping schedules. But, through those challenges, Bryan taught me to truly value every moment we had together, even if it was just a fleeting glance across the room as we hurried to meet our deadlines. It was those small, meaningful connections that reminded me of the strength of our bond, and they made each moment shared feel like a gift.
B: I have to admit, it was brutal. I tried to keep busy either taking care of the house or meal prepping for her, as well as staying up late/getting up early so we could spend a little more time together. We were no strangers to different shifts though, as we had almost entirely opposite shifts at certain points back at our station in Reno. We made it work, and it was totally worth it in the long run!
Early on, was there a particular moment you realized there was a love connection?
M: Our relationship developed from a genuine friendship. So for me, love didn’t hit me in a singular moment but in the small, everyday things that slowly built an unshakable foundation. Bryan’s consistent words of encouragement and his unwavering acts of kindness always made me feel safe and valued.
But if I had to choose a moment when I first felt that undeniable spark, it would have to be the very first day we met. Bryan was wearing a rubber ducky tie, a reference to How I Met Your Mother, which is a show we both love. From the very first conversation about his tie, to him showing off a quick dance move, I could sense something special between us—something that would eventually grow into the beautiful connection we share today.
B: Well Michelle did start out as an intern back in Reno, and she was told to start shadowing reporters in the field. I noticed that she continued to follow me way more than others, which I didn’t mind at all. Talking to her and seeing her passion for the job and love for the craft really drew me closer to her. If you are asking for that one moment I knew there was something I loved about her though, it would have to be when she said “hi, I’m Michelle” 😁
Is it ever difficult to work with your spouse so closely?
M: Honestly, I’m just as surprised as anyone that working so closely together has brought us even closer. It’s been nothing short of amazing. Being by Bryan’s side every day, I’ve gained an even deeper appreciation for him—not just as a reporter and anchor but as the incredible husband and person he is. His dedication and passion inspire me to be better in my own work, and, perhaps more importantly, in how I live my life. It’s been a truly fulfilling experience to learn and grow together, both professionally and personally.
B: Nope. She’s my best friend and we share everything. I think it works so well because we are both so passionate about the job, and are always there to support and back each other up…even when we have a difference of opinions.
Anything else you want to add?
M: For anyone who knows us or follows us on social media, they can see just how proud we are of our relationship. We’ve both been in relationships that didn’t feel quite right in the past, so finding each other has been nothing short of a blessing. There’s something so profoundly reassuring about knowing you’ve found your soulmate—the person who truly complements you in every way. I believe we both feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to have found that in each other.
Our hope is to show people that true love exists.
B: Just that I’m excited to continue making milestone memories with Michelle, as we just got our first house, got married and started anchoring together all within the last few years. I’m still learning things about her every day, and we are learning together how to better tell stories that matter to the community we serve.
