Baylee Bates adds KCEN 5, 6, and 10pm anchor duties

Baylee Bates had been an anchor on the KCEN 6 Waco-Temple-Killeen 10pm newscast as of last year, but with the untimely death of co-anchor, Kris Radcliffe in October, Bates now adds 5, 6, and 10pm duties with Lindsay Liepman (who returned to duty this week).

Here is what Bates shared on Facebook:

"Four years ago, when I took a job at @kcennews, I never imagined I’d be here past two years. Yet, time has flown by. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside hardworking, dedicated people, and I’ve truly fallen in love with Central Texas. More importantly, I’ve grown as a person and a journalist, and the path I’ve been on has been nothing short of an upward trajectory. And today, that path brings me to an exciting new chapter at KCEN!

I’m thrilled to share that I am the new full-time evening anchor! I’ll proudly and humbly be sharing the desk with @lindsayliepman for the 5, 6, and 10 PM newscasts. I know I have big shoes to fill stepping in after the loss of our dear friend Kris, but I’m committed to honoring his legacy by continuing to serve this incredible community with integrity and dedication."

Bates joined KCEN in June 2021 as a multi-skilled journalist (MSJ) and was promoted to weekend anchor in 2022.

The University of Oklahoma grad and former WFAA 8 DFW intern, started her career as a reporter/producer for KTEN 10 Sherman.
