Crystal Ayala Joins Martin Berlanga as Co-Anchor of Houston’s most-watched late weekday newscast, Noticiero Telemundo Houston
HOUSTON, TX – (May 31, 2017) – Telemundo Houston / KTMD today announced that Crystal Ayala has been named news anchor for Noticiero
Telemundo Houston, which airs weekdays at 4 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM.
Beginning June 5, Ayala will deliver Houston’s local breaking news stories alongside news co-anchor Martin Berlanga.
“Crystal has a great attitude and passion for her work, is well respected by her colleagues and our community and has always connected with our viewers. I am excited that she will be joining our main anchor team,” said Jerry Vazquez, Vice President of News for Telemundo Houston.
Ayala joined KTMD in 2015 as consumer investigative reporter and a year later was also named news co-anchor for the station’s newest
afternoon weekday newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo Houston at 4 PM and 4:30 PM. An award-winning journalist, Ayala has won numerous
Lone Star Texas Emmy and Society of Professional Journalists awards for her investigative reporting. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Puerto Rico and an investigative master’s degree in Journalism from Florida International University. She resides in Houston with her family.
