UPDATE
I have asked the station about what's happening to Charlie Pallilo. If/when I hear back, I will update here.
The Houston Chronicle's David Barron reports that Charlie Pallilo is out of 790 KBME.

    1. For sure. Charlie is the only reason I listen. Innes is trash

    2. Agreed, i'm done with them, Charlie was a Pro.

    3. Only one decent program left to listen to on this station; Charlie was the best so I will be listening elsewhere and definitely not that airbag Josh. Hope 790 reads these posts and hope CP lands somewhere else local so I can listen wherever that is.

  3. Josh Innes replacing Charlie? Yeah, no need to listen to 790 in the afternoons anymore.

  6. I'll hope/assume that Charlie is leaving for a better opportunity. If the folks at KBME fired him and replaced him with Josh Innes, they are beyond idiotic.

  7. I listened to Charlie with this spot. But many things are a changing. I hope his change is something good and not the Station dropping him or something.

But if he is gone probably won't listen. I don't listen much to station anyways now that Baseball is over and might for Rockets if don't watch on TV but I loved listening to the Drive home with Charlie but who knows what is happening.

  8. Josh is the best - an entertainer! How can I get this in Philly?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Can't listen without Charlie P! He's the best in Houston, hands down.

  10. Innes is a total zero which is why he was fired in this market already as well as in Philly

  11. So take the best sportscaster in Houston, and replace with this racist! We know where the priorities are! This station is officially deleted from the presets.

    2. I will not listen to a station that puts someone as foul as this Innes guy. If this is entertainment I guess I cannot be entertained. I'll have to find new drive home alternatives. I hope this station crashes and we get a new ownership group with good sports radio hosts.

  13. The pervert cry baby got run outta Philly? Is his skank Jilly Daddy Issues coming back?
He sucks. Glad I have satellite. But if I see him in public I'll consider tossing a beer in his face. Naw...that'd be a waste of beer. I'll drink my beer and not waste it. I'll just tell him he's as annoying as Reyna and his real boobs are bigger than the fake anchors and weather and traffic mutts in this town.

  14. KBME just lost my respect as a Houston sports destination and has lost my following. I can understand, somewhat, if it's economics and their standing in this 4 station market...(hey 1560/97.5, a Houston legend is possibly available for establishing, yes establishing, your sports profile...please get Charlie!)...but to replace with Innes is a slap in the face of a loyal, knowledgeable, and at least elementary-educated (...I wonder if Innes is...) sports talk audience. Innes represents what I had hoped Houston radio would avoid from the other 'top 10' shock-sports markets. Even 'Philly fan' (...with their well-known sports fan reputation...) had the good-sense and respectability to rid their air of his childish, even-rude demeanor. 'Bye 790 - Hello TuneIn for Rockets/Astros.

    1. Totally agree. At least now I won't have to listen to the 30 minutes of commercials every hour.

    2. Please...790 had to do this. No one listens to Matt Thomas or Charlie Pallilo. They've consistently been last (excluding 1560) in ratings and have only gotten by on ad $ they bring in. The days of "radio pro's" like Charlie, Matt Thomas, Rich Lord, Barry Warner are over & it's time for the new breed of gambling & beer drinking radio to take over. All sports for 4 hrs gets boring. If you want 24/7 hypothetical sports scenarios & lists listen to 610. John Granato (The Godfather) & Lance paved the way for Josh & the Blitz to exist as shows people WANT to listen to & actually laugh while listening to them. I listen to radio to be entertained, not just out of habit. The Blitz, Johnny G & whomever, Innes, they are going to bring ratings. Period. And that's what their bosses care about. Complain all you want. More people will listen to Josh than Charlie. I'll be one of them. I'll get a laugh on my way home from work, then go home & play w/my kids. It's entertainment. (You'll be listening to Innes too, you just won't tell anyone)

    3. Please... (above) is the problem.
Do you hear yourself...gambling and beer drinking radio.
Oh yeah, John Grant (Louisiana days) is a bore and only 'entertains' an elementary audience. Additionally, what his wife's been doing to KTRKs news department is sad, so sad that Deborah Wrigley was hired back to reinvest in their intellectual part of their demographic.
And laugh...your assessment of what's funny is a joke unto itself.
I have not listened to 790 since, rest assured Innes and 790 are not on my listen list and all are on notice.
I weep for our future if your kids look to you to be the arbitrator of family talk, humor, and quality media.
Now go home and enjoy another night of Drunk History with your kids.

  15. ...to serve the public interest....
Bryan Erickson, you are but a cog in the continuing dismantling of today's respected and admired media talent and resources...integrity tossed aside for what is perceived to be loyal listeners when we hop into our cars and accidentally keep our radio on a station for more than 5 minutes.
Innes was let go in Houston and in Philadelphia for NOT serving the public interest.
"Thanks" for your contribution to the downward spiral of quality, educated broadcasters and broadcasting as a whole.

  16. Wow I FINALLY was listening to 610 again after he and the other guy that replaced him on the morning show left. Guys no need to listen to 790 at all anymore.

    This guy is a pig.

  17. No more 790 for me. Charlie is by far the best host in this city. He was at 790 from the beginning. Hope he stays here and gets a job at 1 of the other 2 stations he hasn't worked at yet.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He's the sole reason i stopped listening to 610
TERRIBLE MOVE HE SUCKS headed back to 610

  19. This is ridiculous. Charlie was the best. Josh is moron classless jerk. I'm done with 790 forever

  20. This is ridiculous. Loved to listen to Charlie. He was the best host. Josh Inness is a classless moron jerk. I'm done as a listener Changing dials now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The fact that a craven moron like Innes is coming back is just more proof that Houston IHeart radio is in the toilet. What's worse, Innes will come in with the attitude that he can get away with anything, which, apparently, is true. Bryan Erickson will let him do and say anything that attracts attention. Erickson has just proven beyond a doubt that he's as big a moron as Innes.

If you think he was awful and hateful when he was here the first time, wait till you hear him when he returns. He will PO everybody in town, and I predict he'll get fired again at some point and take Erickson down with him.

Don't cry for Charlie though. I've known him since he started at KTRH years ago, and he's a classy guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things sports. What he doesn't know about sports isn't worth knowing, and he'll land on his feet somewhere. I'm betting he's glad to see IHeart in his rear view mirror.

  22. Are you all nuts. Been a cp fan for over a decade. He is the best. As for this new host, innes is the biggest fool ass I ever heard. I cannot believe this will work out for you. Whats next replace in the trenches with howard stearns?

  23. 790 KBME has been going downhill for awhile. I only listened to Charlie Pallilo. Whenever he was off for the day, I would not listen to the drivel from the sit-in hosts. Matt Thomas was good when he was in his own spot at mid-day but went down when he was partnered with Lance. Too much crap about crap. ND is good to listen to but Greg is too sophomoric to be ion the show. It is almost as if he thinks he is still at the University of Arkansas. Sean Jones and Adam Clanton are too involved in the so-called race issues of the day. Been that way since they started the afternoon show. All I want from my sports talk station is SPORTS TALK!!!! With the last hope, Charlie gone, I have removed 790 from my preset on all of my radios.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This is insane! Charlie is THE best sports talk radio guy in Houston. A walking sport encyclopedia with a non-homer take/opinion. Let's recap, Wexler replaced by that idiot, inept Adam Cantin and now another idiot, moron Josh Innes replaces the great Charlie Pallilo??? What a sad day for Houston sports talk radio! I hope Charlie stays in Houston.

  25. This is a crazy move. I actually kinda liked Josh sometimes for entertainment purposes, but when his schtick got annoying which was way too often I'd change the station to listen to Charlie. Josh can be OK in the smallest of doses but when he gets into nobody likes me, my feelings are hurt, nonstop bs spewing mode what station will I turn to? Hopefully Charlie will be on somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The big question is where will Pallilo end up next ?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm devastated to lose Charlie, the smartest mind in sports--radio or otherwise. I didn't always agree with him, but I always appreciated him and actually learned a lot. I'll really miss his conversations with Phil Steele and Nolan, among others. 790 has been removed from my presets. Completely idiotic.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Stupid move... CP is the best!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Unlike everyone else, I think this is a great move by 790. Charlie is very good but his ratings were just okay. Lets not lose sight that this is a business and like it or not Josh will bring ratings which will be good for business. 790 needs something. Clanton and Jones is just bad radio. In fact, those two guys should've been replaced. Not sure why all the Matt Thomas love? He actually brings Lance down and Lance has been on cruise control for about 3 years now. Watch 790's ratings go up from all the people who say they gonna leave but will actually stick around to hear what Innis has to say. Sorry that Charlie is gone but a great business move by 790

  31. Growing up in Houston since 1974, I've listened to several hosts throughout the years. Of them all Charlie was by far the best. His range of knowledge is impressive. I've heard he's a Rhodes Scholar. What I liked about his show was it was an intelligent and realistic viewpoint with local teams. The other point I liked was he carried the show alone which made staying on point easy instead of another host interrupting and getting off a point you wanted to hear. Now talk shows is a bunch of garbage talking about absolutely nothing. Kinda like an men's magazine. Throw the crap in there and see if it's worthwhile. 790 I'm done with you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have listened to Charlie since my son was in 5th grade, waiting in the car rider line. He is now a senior in college. Only other person I listened to was Matt Thomas. Ah well, back to country music.

  33. The last bastion of STR is gone leaving Houston with nothing but blowhards yelling at each other "your team sucks. No your teams sucks, Ha HA Ha HA HA. We're talking sports!"

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anyone know where Charlie is now? I have no reason to listen to 790 now. Might catch Lance every now and then in the morning but Charlie was always a must listen on the drive home.

  35. Innes already insulted Charlie and you U of H within the first hour. I give him a month

  36. First heard Charlie back when he work at 740 am with Joel bushbaum and I can say not much changed about him so all these years have passed things change for everybody so it's out with the old
    and in with the new.

  41. Kept switching to 790 listening for CP's voice. I figured that he was on vacation and had fill ins in his absence. Seemed like a long time that he was away, for sure but I didnt hear anything otherwise. Decided to listen to the show the other day to see if I could get a clue when he would return. Whoa I couldn't believe what a jerk I was listening to. And for the most part he wasn't talking about sports. Just making outlandish comments and insulting remarks. What a complete unlistenable jerk. Sad people think that is what the masses want.
Charlie is unique. He is the most intelligent sportscaster out there and possesses logic that few other can approach. He may be a little dry for some listeners but if they want shallow sports analysis and antics they could listen elsewhere.
You have taken someone who was unique and respected and added what you think will be a big business drawer for the company.
Bringing in this new guy shows that you are followers with bad judgment. Chasing what you think is the next big thing and taking it a step beyond. But this new A-clown is several steps beyond...way in the wrong direction. He is a one time listen to train wreck. That is all you need to confirm how low class he is.
Have fun babysitting. Bye bye 790.

  44. I was traveling for 2 weeks and came home and heard this fool, Josh. He won't last. Firing CP was the wrong choice, just ask Harold! Switched to 610 and XM sport talk shows, except for 10am-12pm. You can't replace CP. Just ask Josh some stats on players or teams. He will have to google it, which we can all do. CP knew it all off the top of his head.
