In making the announcement, Morford stated, “Jonathan is an accomplished storyteller, a charismatic partner for co-anchor Melinda Spaulding, and will undoubtedly be a prime leader in the editorial life of our newsroom.”

Most recently, Martin served as a national correspondent for Al Jazeera America. Previously, he was a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for WSMV in Nashville. Prior to that, Martin was a weekend evening anchor and daily reporter for WRDW in Augusta, GA. Before that, he served as a News Reader for WFXA-FM Radio in Augusta, GA. 1. Actually, Al Jazerra America had solid , balanced reporting. Would have been excellent training for him.

    2. Actually...it was a pathetic terrorist funded station (now out of business, too, by the way) that serial liar and hypocrite-seeking-money-Al-Gore was a investor of. The fact this guy worked there says it was the LAST media outlet that would hire him.
Too bad it's now defunct. Sounds like a great place for hacks like Reyna, Sachse and so many other untalented local hacks to have worked.

  3. First Houston station to have two African-American main anchors, right?

    1. Who? And what part of Africa are they from?

  4. How do you know that Jonathan is from Africa? He could be from the Islands. If a newscast had two anchors of Italian decent, would you be wondering if the station was the first Houston station to have two Italian-American main anchors? We are all Americans. Time to get rid of the hyphenated designations until the census takers come around in 2020.

    1. Not to mention, Africa is a continent, so if a " white" person from Africa becomes a US citizen they would be an " African-American." I don't think people realize how stupid they sound. On another note, I've seen college TV stations that are better than FOX 26. When I watch news, I don't want to see segments on TV shows and I don't want to see fake boobs hanging out of clothes in the morning. I think they are going after the " minority" demographic and the lesser educated people of all races!

    2. If PGA golfer Ernie Els becomes a US citizen, will he be African American?

    3. Yes, if he is from the continent of Africa. I don't know who he is, because I don't follow golf!

  5. Not watching Fox anymore. Too racist for me. Melinda is a racist, and the segments with Quannel are horrible. Someone tell me that Quannel is not racist.... What happened to Fox26 it used to be great!

    1. Don't forget the Isiah Factor too. He must be really good friends with the guy in charge. That is the only thing I can figure out! I think like most of the radio stations, they are going after minorities, because a large majority of "white" people get their news from other sources and don't watch local TV, or listen to local radio.

    2. And here we go with the racism claims.

  6. I happen to like Melinda Spaulding a lot, but I think Jonathan Martin is terrible! He is not likable at all, I just change the channel now. Melinda deserves a nicer co-anchor...but I believe they will probably keep him there because of his race.

  7. Listen folks, a strong command of the Englidh language is required along with a well toned cadence to be a good news anchor. Nobody wants to listen to Texans speak English. All that nasal shit is annoying to listen to.
