After a year and a half, reporter Amanda Perez is leaving KPRC 2 for the world of education.

"I'll soon be working for Fort Bend ISD as the district's media relations coordinator," Perez told mikemcguff.com. "It's hard to say goodbye to all the amazing folks at Local 2, but I'm ready for a new challenge."

Fort Bend ISD isn't far from Perez's hometown considering she's from nearby El Campo in Wharton County.

The Sam Houston State University graduate came to KPRC from KFSN Fresno, CA where she started as a reporter in 2006. She became weekend anchor at the Disney/ABC Television Group station in 2008. Perez started on air at KAVU Victoria as an anchor/producer. Before that, she worked as an editor at KPRC.

"I am looking forward to showcasing the accomplishments of the hardworking students and educators at Fort Bend ISD," Perez added. "I have always considered myself a storyteller at heart– and there are still so many stories to be told!"

Perez tells me today is her last day on the air. Tell her congrats!
