On August 9, 2007 ESPN Deportes Radio in Dallas (1540 KZMP) debuted, becoming ESPN’s first Owned and Operated Deportes Radio station. It was also the first and continues to be the only all-Spanish sports radio station in Dallas/ Ft Worth.
Thursday’s Fifth Anniversary celebration took place at Ojos Locos Dallas, featuring live broadcasting from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. CT.
Among the ESPN Deportes Dallas staff at Thursday’s event were:
Back Row -- fifth from the left (blue shirt) Pete Dits, VP/General Manager, ESPN Dallas; sixth from left Rafa Ramos, host of Deportes’ Raza Deportiva; seventh from left Tato Noriega, former Mexican National team player and ESPN Deportes TV personality.
Front Row – fourth from left (black shirt) Jim Roberts, Senior Director/Deportes Local Radio Group and ESPN Deportes Dallas station manager.
Among the guests was ESPN Deportes TV personality and former Mexican National team midfielder Jose “El Tato” Noriega, who joined morning show Raza Deportiva’s Rafa Ramos, Zona ESPN’s Renato Bermudez, and ESPN Deportes Dallas personalities Xavier Olalde, Silvana Pagliuca, Luis Fernando Perez, Carlos Nava and Victor Villalba.
Extra special guests included Rangers Captain, the Texas Rangers mascot, Dallas Mavericks mascots Champ and Mavs Man, and the Mavs Maniacs.
