EXCLUSIVE: NewsFix Behind The Scenes of CW39 KIAH

UPDATED:
NewsFix sneak preview

NewsFix Behind The Scenes 39 KIAH

Because I still work at KIAH CW39, you haven't heard much from me about NewsFix lately. That changes today as I offer you the first look at the behind the scenes of the NewsFix operation.

Don't forget, tonight at 5pm and 9pm, you will see more of what NewsFix is about on CW39.

BTW, the video is hosted by GregO, the voice of NewsFix. Many Houston and Dallas (as well as other places) will remember him on the radio. He was a big player at Rock 101 KLOL and 97.1 The Eagle KEGL.

  1. Still doesn't tell me anything about what it is. Looks like a waste of time & money.

  3. The girls says towards the end I am really proud of it? What? Thats she was spared and still has a job. This will FLOP....Such a shame how they put people in key positions that shouldnt be there. What fools. More like TMZ...... If the people behind the scenes have big freakin egos....

  5. Sorry it was a good try, but its not local news. TMZ Houston maybe or re name it something like splash Houston. But its not news. I found it to be too thin on content.

  6. This newscast, if you can even try to call it that--is way too in your face for Houston. It might have worked in a place like Miami. The old WSNV tried in your face with crime news all the time. I don't think this will work in Houston.
I see a lot of people in the background that use to be at other shops in town, sorry folks this thing is far to TMZ. Label it what it is---don't call it news and you might have a show that works.

  7. I see what this like now. It's like TMZ trying to do "serious" news. One large VO with cheezy, dramatic "verbage" to liven it up or SCARE YOUR PANTS OFF. No real substance or credibility. Just "stories" re-written & read "from reports" from other agencies wherever they can find them. Probably Google.

  8. This is the worst thing in news I have ever seen in my life. I see "hash' marks as ratings. This will nto last long.

  9. Don't forget to play the NewsFix Drinking Game:

Every time you see "Source: Youtube.com" appear on the screen, you take a drink.

  10. So in an attempt to spice up the news... the knight in shining armor, the savior, the champion- is NewsFix. I talked about my own opinions of NewsFix in my own blog. I'm not going to say I'm appalled by NewsFix, but I'm very disappointed. Almost like photojournalistic news meets public access and (certain entertainment news shows). NewsFix is trying to be like, the Woodstock of TV news. Trying to be the counterculture. It's just that- and disappointing. I am imagining that NewsFix is a work in progress to become the best thing in TV news since (whatever you consider the best thing on TV news). However, I doubt this will really become any sort of serious player. If anything, it seems to further alienate people from NewsFix. Don't be surprised to hear someone ask "what the hell is this?" when looking at NewsFix.

  11. It's too bad that they are putting some good people out with this so called "product." Why do news at all?

  12. I just love hearing a sarcastic narrator talk about the crisis in Japan and the bombing of Libya. Not even an ounce of credibility...

  13. This "NewsFix" looks horrible. It looks like it was put together by a bunch of college students in the 90s. I want to get my news from somewhere that appears professional not this amateur crap.

  14. I completely agree with the person who posted "I just love hearing a sarcastic narrator talk about the crisis in Japan and the bombing of Libya. Not even an ounce of credibility".

It was very disheartening to hear sarcasm when talking about the daycare worker and Japan.

What makes this news debacle even MORE trecherous is that they had a segment called 'DUMB ASS" and another segment where the faceless reporter MOCKED the baseball owner when tallking about a quote.

Channel 39, YOU CANT BE SERIOUS about this being REAL NEWS. I understand no onw was watching this station before, but they REALLY won't give a 'spit' about you now. This is far from being innovative and fresh. it is the worst segment of news I have EVER seen in my entire life.

  15. Wow, so many haters. Maybe that's because most of the people who watched newsfix expected it to be serious news. I watched it not knowing what to expect and guess what...I was entertained. But maybe that's because i'm not a news junkie. I live in Houston and I think newsfix is just what this town needs. There's too many boring news stations as it is. Houston is ready for something different. I say bring on more newsfix.

  16. Awful.

I give it six weeks. They'll be showing reruns of 2 1/2 Men at 9 PM by the beginning of the May ratings period.

  17. Good luck Newsfix!
Its not about ratings, its about making money. For people who think ratings make money, you know very little about TV and guess what 39 just reduced it's payroll in a major way.

Note: On air talent..Please post your hater notes below.

  18. Love the new format and hope it has a long lasting future. I'm so sick of the other local news stations here. Love seeing Pruett and Grego back together again too.
