New Houston TV reporters and Chronicle staffers leaving

With a New Year comes a report on some of the new faces and others moving on from Houston media at the end of 2009.

New KIAH reporter Jason Volentine jumps 95 markets for Houston job
Jason Volentine jumps 95 markets and into the Top 10 to reporter at KIAH in Houston from anchor/multi-media journalist at KOLN in Lincoln, NE.

Hasti Taghi joins KPRC Local 2 as a reporter
Hasti Taghi started her career at KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Before that, she was part of Texas Newswatch, The Longhorn Pulse and KVR News while she attended the University of Texas. She also held internships at KXAN-TV and News8Austin in Austin. (MORE ON HASTI TAGHI)

The Houston Chronicle's Carlton Thompson has been named executive editor of mlb.com
According to the Maynard Institute's Richard Prince, Carlton Thompson, one of a handful of African American top sports editors at a US daily, has been named executive editor of mlb.com.

Tara Young assistant business editor of the Houston Chronicle exits
Also according to Prince, Tara Young who was the assistant business editor at the Houston Chronicle has left to pursue a law degree.
