José Alonzo joined KVUE Austin in February 2026 as a multi-skilled journalist.
Before arriving in Austin, he worked as a multi-skilled journalist (MSJ) at WHAS 11 in Louisville, Kentucky, from 2024 to 2026.
He began his professional broadcasting career at KYTX CBS19 in Tyler as an MSJ where he worked from 2022 to 2024.
A South Texas native, Alonzo grew up in Uvalde and Corpus Christi. He began his academic career at Southwest Texas Junior College, earning an associate degree, before continuing his studies at Del Mar College, where he earned associate degrees in liberal arts and journalism. He later attended the University of North Texas, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in converged broadcast media.
While in college, Alonzo gained hands-on newsroom experience as a volunteer anchor and reporter at North Texas Television. He also worked as a production intern at Gracepoint Media, served as an associate editor at Foghorn News, and interned at the Uvalde Leader-News.
