Ava Brendgord joined KXAN Austin in September 2025 as a morning reporter.
Prior to moving to Austin, she spent two years at WECT News in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she joined the station in July 2023 as a reporter and multimedia journalist.
In 2024, Brendgord was awarded first place by the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
Born and raised in Houston, Ava headed north to attend Penn State University’s Bellisario College of Communications.
While at Penn State, she served as an anchor and reporter for Centre County Report, an award-winning newscast airing across 29 counties in central Pennsylvania. She also interned with Fox 8 WWCP/ABC 23 WATM in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and KPRC 2 in Houston.
