Keenan Willard announced today he is leaving NBC 5 KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth to join KNBC 4 NBC Los Angeles and Telemundo 52 KVEA.
Here is what Willard posted to social:
"We’re heading to LA!
Thrilled to share that this month I’ll be joining the team at NBC Los Angeles and Telemundo 52.
A sincere thank you to everyone in DFW who has embraced me and my reporting for the past two years, North Texas will always be an incredibly meaningful chapter of my career."
The mentioned "we" includes his wife, Abigail Velez, who is also heading to Southern California as a reporter/fill-in anchor for a competing station.
Willard joined NBC DFW in November 2023 as a reporter for the station’s 10 p.m. newscast.
He returned to Texas from WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he reported from April 2021 to 2023.
Willard began his professional television career at KFOX14 in El Paso in 2019.
A graduate of Washington and Lee University, he previously interned with CNN in Atlanta and WBFF FOX 45 in Baltimore, Maryland.
