Evan Anderson leaves NBC 5 KXAS DFW

Evan Anderson announced that his NBC 5 Today KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth weekend morning anchor/reporter position has been eliminated:

"After almost 10 years of telling the stories of my hometown - and stories all across North Texas, I was called in today and told my position has been eliminated.

My last newscast on NBC 5 was Sunday morning.. And it was a good one! I will be forever grateful for an A-1 weekend morning team! They are some of the best in the business.

To the viewers, friends, and family, thank you for waking up early to watch; it means more than you know.

As for now? Here’s what I do know - no 2:30AM alarm set, and I can wake up on the weekends with my wife and son for the first time, ever.

Thank you for the ride y’all, cheers to this next chapter… and stay tuned!

We are so grateful.. and I am constantly reminded - God is still in control.

So.. Evan Anderson hanging up his mic… for now.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

With deepest gratitude,

Evan"

Anderson joined NBC 5 KXAS-TV in February 2017.

Before returning to his home state of Texas, Anderson served as the weekend evening anchor at WBNS 10 in Columbus, Ohio. His career has also taken him to KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma City, where he served as a reporter and anchor, and to WVUE in New Orleans, where he worked as an anchor and reporter. He began his reporting career at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana.

A graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans, Anderson earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Business Management in 2008. After Hurricane Katrina flooded Dillard’s campus in 2005, he attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth for a semester before returning to Dillard the following spring.

During his time at Dillard, Evan served as managing editor of the student newspaper The Courtbouillon, president of the Dillard University Association of Black Journalists, and vice president of the junior class.
