The move marks an intentional step in KPRC 2’s strategy to strengthen and refresh its morning newscasts, offering viewers a faster-paced, more dynamic blend of news, weather, and traffic coverage that helps Houston prepare for the day ahead.
“Daniella’s extensive experience anchoring morning news in Chicago and Los Angeles brings tremendous value to our newsroom,” said Ana Lastra, News Director, KPRC 2. “Her warmth, energy, and deep connection to Houston make her the perfect partner for Sofia as we evolve our mornings to better serve viewers.”
Guzman, a Houston native, returned to KPRC 2 in 2022 after spending more than a decade with NBC 5 Chicago and NBC 4 Los Angeles. She is a multiple Emmy Award-winning journalist and active community volunteer, known for her approachable style and passion for telling stories that uplift and inform.
“I’m thrilled to join Sofia and our talented morning team,” said Guzman. “Mornings in Houston are vibrant and full of energy, and I’m excited to help our viewers start their day with the news and information that matters most to them.”
This change is part of KPRC 2’s ongoing initiative to reimagine its morning newscast, with a focus on viewer-centered storytelling, live coverage, and community solutions that support the station’s mission to make Houston a better place to live.
