Telemundo 39 Phoenix / KTAZ and Telemundo 40 Tucson / KHRR, part of NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group, announced that Karol García has been named Multimedia Journalist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona.
García will be based in Tucson at KHRR, where she will focus on covering that market and Southern Arizona.
Most recently, García served as morning news anchor and reporter at Noticias RGV, the Spanish-language branch of KRGV Channel 5 in the Rio Grande Valley.
“Karol’s passion for impactful storytelling and her ability to connect with audiences make her a strong addition to our newsroom,” said Noe Gonzalez, Vice President of News for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona. “Her experience covering issues that deeply affect the Hispanic community it's a perfect match with our commitment to provide trusted news that informs and empowers our viewers.”
García began her career in 2019 at the Laredo Morning Times, where she covered community stories during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, she joined Telemundo Laredo as anchor, multimedia journalist, and producer, covering topics like border issues, public health, and local politics. Her coverage also included major events such as Hurricane Beryl, the end of Title 42, and the 2024 elections.
Noticiero Telemundo Arizona is presented on KTAZ and KHRR Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m., and weekends at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
