Raquel Amparo leaves CBS News Texas KTVT


Raquel Amparo, the President and General Manager of CBS News Texas, overseeing CBS 11 KTVT and TXA 21 in Dallas-Fort Worth, is leaving the company mikemcguff.com has learned.

Amparo rejoined CBS DFW in 2021 after four years with Metroplex rival Univision’s KUVN-DT and KSTR-DT, where she was named News Director in 2017 and later promoted to Vice President of News in 2019. Just months later, she also became the regional content lead for Univision’s large-market stations across Texas and Chicago. While at Univision, Amparo earned recognition as 2020 Broadcaster of the Year by the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators.

Her earlier tenure with KTVT spanned six years, beginning in 2011 as an Executive Producer before being promoted to Managing Editor in 2016. Before that, Amparo built her producing career in Miami at CBS Miami WFOR and My 33 WBFS, later serving as a producer at FOX 5 DC WTTG Washington, D.C. from 2007–2011.

She is an Emmy Award winner and a Carole Kneeland Project for Responsible Journalism Fellow.

Amparo holds a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Central Florida. In 2022, she furthered her leadership training at Harvard Business School’s Cable Executive Management Program, where she studied industry disruption, business strategy, and innovation in media.
