Abigail Dye victim of AI deep fake

FOX 26 Houston reporter Abigail Dye is a victim of an AI deep fake scam, and her image is most likely being used to dupe others.

Dye posted the fake video on Facebook with the following message:

"This video is FAKE! The scammers are getting craftier every day. This is honestly super creepy and scary.

I don’t chat with anyone on messenger about anything but my stories. Do not trust these accounts!"

The video appears to be taken from an actual video post Dye made, but an AI has trained her voice. The scammer would then share the video with individual users with whom they are chatting to make their requests seem more authentic.

Ironically, this week, FOX 26's consumer reporter Heather Sullivan filed a report on AI scams where she made a deep-fake of herself to show how realistic the fake video can be.

Dye joined FOX 26 in September 2023 and became the new face of the "FOX 26 Crime Files" segment in November of that year.
