KBTX 3 Bryan-College Station reports its weekend anchor Heather Kovar was arrested Monday night by Texas A&M University police and charged with assault family violence causing bodily injury.
FOX 44 KWKT Waco reports the probable cause arrest affidavit states the alleged victim, who police say is Kovar's boyfriend, was punched in the face and head about a dozen times. The Central Texas TV station says the affidavit states the police officer observed the victim to have a bloody broken nose, among other injuries.
The Bryan College Station Eagle reports, "The station’s management is investigating the matter."
As of Thursday evening, Kovar's bio is no longer on KBTX's website.
An EMMY and Murrow award-winning anchor/reporter, Kovar joined KBTX in 2023.
She previously worked for CBS 6 WRGB Albany, New York, where she was suspended. Before that, Kovar was a correspondent for CBS News Newspath in London. She also worked for NBC 5 KXAS Dallas, WKTV Utica, NY, Reuters Business News NYC, News 12 NY, and KVUE Austin.
