Stephanie Whitfield leaves KHOU 11

Stephanie Whitfield

Stephanie Whitfield announced this morning she's leaving KHOU 11 Houston and the TV news industry.

"Big news to share! Today is my last day at KHOU.

When I got my first job as a reporter back in 2012, a wise photographer told me I’d have a front row seat to history. He was so right. But now, I have a husband and three kids, and I’d rather have a front row seat at little league games and school performances.

Being able to cover the news in Houston has been a dream come true. I’m also grateful for the friendships I’ve made along the way. Now I’m ready for the next chapter!"

Speaking of children, Whitfield gave birth to her third son in August 2022.

Originally from the Memorial area of Houston, Whitfield joined KHOU in December 2015 as a reporter from FOX8 WGHP Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, and the Piedmont Triad, North Carolina.

The award-winning journalist started her on-air television news journey with KBTX 3 Bryan-College Station.

Now for the surprising twist.  This was Whitfield's second time with channel 11.  The Kinkaid School and University of Southern California grad interned with KHOU and was hired as an assignment editor.

Looking back on Whitfield's hiring post, I noticed that a lot was happening at the time.  Jake Reiner joined KPRC 2, Marla Carter joined KTRK abc13Melissa Correa joined KHOU 11, and KHOU 11 news director Philip Bruce announced he was leaving.
