Praise 92.1 KROI Houston has been sold to Spanish Broadcasting System by Urban One for $7.5 million according to multiple radio trade sites.
The Praise format returned to KROI in 2021.
So why is this happening?
With Urban One (owner of 97.9 'The Box' and Majic 102.1) announcing the purchase of the Cox Media Group Houston cluster in April 2023 (93Q Country KKBQ, The Eagle 106.9 and 107.5 KHPT-KGLK and Country Legends 97.1 KTHT) two stations must be sold to comply with the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) local ownership limits.
That means one more station of this newly combined group of Houston radio stations must be sold and it will apparently be Country Legends 97.1.
