Dan Molina, a former KPRC 2 reporter and NBC News correspondent, has died at age 75.
Channel 2 reports Molina was battling cancer.
Originally from Burbank, California, the future TV journalist studied medieval history at UC Berkeley.
Molina spent 25 years in the television news industry. The earliest TV job Molina held that I'm aware of is as a reporter for KPRC 2. After five years in local TV, Molina jumped to NBC News as a national correspondent.
You can still find videos online that show him covering big news events such as the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, Baby Jessica's rescue, the Exxon Valdez oil spill, Manuel Noriega's arrest and the Southern Methodist University Football Scandal.
He later returned to KPRC as the station's Austin Bureau Chief.
After leaving the news industry, Molina was still very much involved with the media industry.
Molina produced a short documentary for the National Horse Protection Coalition (NHPC) with actress Bo Derek in 2004.
In 2007, he became an executive trainer for a a Houston-based communication training and crisis counseling company.
He also served as an adjunct professor at The University of Texas at Austin.
Molina is survived by partner and former abc13 KTRK reporter, Deborah Wrigley.

Dan Molina's memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Pasadena on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2pm.
