Pam Vaught retires from FOX 7 Austin after 23 years at station

Pam Vaught has retired from FOX 7 Austin KTBC after working at the Central Texas station since September 1998.

"As I told [the FOX 7 Austin staff], good people matter and they are some of the best, both present and those who I worked with over almost 40 years," Vaught posted on Facebook.  "I have a video they put together I need to watch but chose to do that at home so I can ugly cry."

This December 2021, would be 40 years in the broadcasting business for Vaught.  She tweeted, 29 of those years with FOX Television Stations.

KTBC says according to the Texas Association of Broadcasters, Vaught is believed to be the longest serving current Texas television news director working for the same station in a Lone Star State TV market.

TAB adds, the other TX TV news directors who served for more than 25 or more years at a station include:

Ray Miller - KPRC 2 Houston
Bob Rogers - KENS 5 San Antonio’s

Vaught started her career in 1981 after graduating from Indiana University Bloomington.

"Nearly 4 years ago, Pam took a chance on me," FOX 7 traffic anchor Jane Lonsdale posted on Facebook.   "I had worked at 2 stations prior to Fox 7, but had been out of the TV business for two years when I was hired on to be a part of Good Day Austin. Thank you, Pam for taking that chance. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to work with such a talented team each morning!"

"We miss you already Pam," FOX 7 anchor Leslie Rangel added.  "Thank you again for your constant support and for 40 years of contribution to the news industry and inspiration. Enjoy your first day of retirement and take time for you!!"
