Kim Castro joins KHOU 11

Kim Castro, who went by Kimberly Kolliner at her California station, is joining KHOU 11 from FOX 26 KMPH Fresno.

Castro joined channel 11 in October 2021.

Make sure you continue to read past the FOX 26 part in the opening paragraph to see the KMPH call letters to stop any Houston TV confusion! As all of those Californians move to Texas, those from the Central Valley will see a familiar face in the Bayou City!

According to her bio's title, Castro is both a reporter and a weekend meteorologist for KMPH, but she will mainly be a meteorologist for KHOU

In addition to TV news, Castro also works on KMG NOW radio as a weather anchor for the weekday mornings and afternoon shows.

Before Fresno, Castro was a weather forecaster/MMJ for KTVL Medford, Oregon.

The Los Angeles native has a double major in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Arizona. According to her bio, the half Ecuadorian, half German, and fully bilingual Castro will forecast in Spanish at KHOU too.

While a student, Castro interned at KVOA and KGUN, both located in Tucson, Arizona. She also hosted/produced student segment “UA+” which aired on Arizona Public Media.

In 2021, Castro completed a BS in Geosciences, Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
