Here is a partial transcript of what she said on the KVIA newscast on her last day:

"And so I'm taking just some time back. I am not stopping, though. I am just pausing a little bit to remember the important things in my life, which is my family, who has always been there with me through thick and thin all through all these crazy schedules. So Mom and Dad, I hope you're watching. I love you and I'm going to get on your nerves even more and probably steal some food from your refrigerator, because I'm going to be unemployed for just a little bit, though. But to my son, Jacob, I know we fight like brother and sister. And I know I worked so hard and sometimes was up to four in the morning. And you always told me, go to sleep, Mom. And I just wouldn't. Well, now I'm going to annoy you for the next few months because I love you and I'm not I'm not giving up on my dream. I am just putting it on pause and realizing that I have to take care of my mental health. And just because I'm leaving doesn't mean you need to stop the conversation on mental health and be nice to all your journalists. I mean, we're here to do a job. It's we love telling your stories. We love you giving you the news when you need it. We're not the enemy. And I have some amazing coworkers and it hurts me when I see them hurt. So I'm leaving. But I want to leave with this message to be kind to my coworkers because they're just so amazing and just to be kind to one another. I mean, the world's a scary place. And I created Sun Days because I wanted to give you all a break at least once a week from all the hard news. And I'm glad that I can continue doing that. But I don't I don't know what's in store next, but I am a determined Latina woman, and you can never underestimate the capabilities of the abilities of a determined woman, because when a woman is determined to do something, ladies and gentlemen, it's going to get done. Why? Because Mija, Yes you can."

Lopez is the Founder/Executive Director, Content Coordinator/Social Media Strategist of Mija, Yes you can, a non-profit organization "created by women FOR women to provide a platform that allows ALL women to come together to learn from each other, relate to each other and achieve their ambitions in life."

Fans of Lopez will see her on the station filling-in for vacation relief and working on her segment "Sunday Funday Moments."
