The official television station of the Houston Texans, abc13 KTRK, is making news regarding the NFL team, but it has nothing to do with the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs game this weekend.
It actually has to do with National Women’s Soccer League’s Houston Dash star Kealia Ohai who is being traded to the Chicago Red Stars.
Ohai also happens to be J.J. Watt’s fiancee.
Watt is taking umbrage to the fact the Disney Television station tweeted about Ohai's trade, not identifying her by name, but only as his fiancee.
This headline is trash.— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) January 7, 2020
Kealia Ohai (which is her name by the way, since you didn’t even bother to mention it) is incredible entirely on her own merit and deserves to be treated as such.
Be better than this. https://t.co/82GMrYOv9U
Now national media outlets are covering it:
- J.J. Watt calls out TV station for sexist headline about Kealia Ohai
- FiancĂ© of new Red Stars forward Kealia Ohai calls out Houston station for ‘trash’ tweet
- J.J. Watt calls out website for poorly worded tweet about Kealia Ohai: 'This headline is trash'
- J.J. Watt rails at news outlet’s tweet referring to Kealia Ohai only as his fiancĂ©e
KTRK issued an apology:
Hi JJ, Our sincere apologies. We 100% agree with you. Kealia Ohai is a soccer superstar who deserves her own headlines. We are sad to see her go. She is going to be a force in Chicago! We’ve loved doing stories on her many talents and accomplishments over the years.— ABC13 Houston (@abc13houston) January 7, 2020
