GM David Loving exits KXLN Univision 45

David Loving and KXLN Vice President of News and News Regional Director, Martha Kattan

For nearly a decade, David Loving served as President and General Manager of Univision 45 Houston KXLN but now multiple sources tell mikemcguff.com he is no longer with the station.

In his time at Univision, KLXN became the weather hub for the company's stations around the country. He also was instrumental in the development of the Uforia Lounge located inside the Univision studios. Loving personally gave me a tour of both spaces in 2017 and they were impressive.

Most importantly, he oversaw Univision during the time I first featured in 2016 when The rise of Houston Spanish-language TV came to the forefront in television ratings.

"Univision Houston is a leader in TV and radio nationally, regardless of language, and we deliver the best news coverage, radio shows and everything in between to the community that we’re proud to serve," Loving told mikemcguff.com back then. "We attract top talent by staying true to our mission of informing and empowering Hispanic America and to our goal of delivering best-in-class content day in and day out."

After graduating from Texas A&M, Loving started in 1994 with Univision San Antonio as an account executive for KXTN/KROM/KCOR radio and moved his way up through the company.

In 1998, he switched to television and became national sales manager for KWEX San Antonio.

From there, he moved to Austin in 2002 to become general sales manager for KAKW and KBVO. He was promoted to vice president and general manager for the stations in 2004.

In 2006, Loving moved back to San Antonio to head KWEX and KNIC.

In 2009, he moved west to become SVP and Regional Director of Northern California where he supervised the Univision/Unimas operations in San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Salt Lake City.

After a year, he moved to Houston to head KXLN where he has been ever since.

I reached out to Loving, but did not hear back.
