GMA: "Hundreds" of Astros fans show up for parade

Hate to break it to the disgruntled Yankees fans working for ABC's Good Morning America, but there were a bit more than "hundreds" of Houston Astros fans at the World Series championship parade last Friday.

GMA's Houston co-owned station, KTRK abc13, reports "approximately one million fans attended the event, and that number could rise, according to Susan Christian with the City of Houston."

There were so many people that KPRC 2 anchor Bill Balleza said on air that the station was having trouble getting live shot signals from cellular bonding TV technology (using cell phone signal to transmit video back to the TV station). I'm sure downtown mobile service was rough during the parade with so many people on their phones.

Not to upset the New York media even more, but Astros players George Springer, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman appeared on NBC's Saturday Night Live this weekend and Variety reports the comedy show hit a "season-high number in Nielsen’s overnight markets."

Since we're talking ratings, the Houston Chronicle's David Barron writes, "almost half of the 2.4 million television households in the 20-county Greater Houston marketing area were tuned in to the Astros' World Series Game 7 victory Wednesday night."

So GMA, does that mean hundreds were watching?

(Thanks Doug!)
