HOUSTON (October 23, 2017) – With hearts full of joy and gratitude, KSBJ and NGEN Radio want to thank our dear friends at God’s Pit Crew, Christian radio, and Joyce Meyer Ministries for their generous support to help our station and our staff recover from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
Not only did Harvey knock our station off the air for several days, causing severe damage to our tower, it flooded many of our staff’s homes, cars, property, and loved one’s homes. Several colleagues whose homes flooded live outside the flood plain and did not have flood insurance, meaning they would have to spend many thousands of dollars out of pocket to gut and rebuild their homes.
Soon after Harvey hit, the Christian radio industry and Joyce Meyer Ministries began raising money to help victims of Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and KSBJ, providing funds to God’s Pit Crew. God’s Pit Crew Founder Randy Johnson and two board members flew to Houston, toured three of our colleague’s homes, and offered to rebuild and refurnish all three free of charge. That work is already underway.
One of our staff whose home is being rebuilt is overwhelmed with gratitude. “We have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ that He is in control of our life, but when you actually see the hand of God at work, it leaves us speechless. Thank you to God’s Pit Crew, Joyce Meyer Ministries and Christian radio for what you are doing for our family, it is life changing. To God be the Glory!”
The love and generosity of God’s Pit Crew and our radio colleagues amazes KSBJ’s President and General Manager, Tim McDermott, whose home also flooded during Harvey, “Talk about God sending people to meet a specific need at the right time. That’s what God’s Pit Crew was to KSBJ. Our whole staff – not just the ones who were flooded – were overwhelmed by the love of this ministry. They are true servants – humble, kind and loving men and women of God. God is in the restoration business and that’s right where God’s Pit Crew lives.”
God’s Pit Crew was founded in 1999 and has responded to nearly 100 natural disasters in the United States and all over the world. They were on the ground in Houston within hours after Harvey hit, providing “Blessing Buckets” with supplies, a Bible, and personal note to help victims of the storm. They are also rebuilding a pastor’s home in Southeast Houston and homes in Florida for victims of Hurricane Irma.
Everyone here at KSBJ and NGEN Radio is deeply touched by the love and support we have received. We offer our deepest thanks to God’s Pit Crew, Joyce Meyer Ministries, and everyone in Christian radio for being the hands and feet of Jesus and helping us to recover after Harvey.
