JP Pritchard |
"I remember the first time I saw JP," Malone recalled to mikemcguff.com. "It was in the building at Clear Channel in '05. He was walking down the hallway. I thought, 'OMG...should I say something?' Not all radio legends are friendly. I decided to take a shot and said, 'Hi.' He responded with a golden-voiced, 'HELLLLLOOOO.' I remember calling my wife and telling her I just hello to JP Pritchard!!!!"
Last night, I put it out on Twitter and Facebook that a new co-host would be joining Malone. The rumor I heard said "him" so I knew it wasn't going to be everyone's automatic assumption Maria Todd. It was interesting watching social media try to figure out who it would be.
If you've been in Houston for any length of time, you know the coming together of Malone and Pritchard is quite the powerful combo!

After working his way up at radio stations across the midwest, Pritchard arrived in Houston at KULF which is now SportsTalk 790 KBME. Pritchard is a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He and his wife, Esther, have three grown sons.
KNTH operations manager Chuck Tiller tells me since 1992, the following Houston stations have attempted a news/talk or all news format:
KKHU "You 106.9"
KRTK/KKTL "97 Talk-FM"
KNTH "AM1070, The Answer"
KFNC "FM Newschannel 97.5"
KROI "News 92"
As it closes in on its 10th birthday, KNTH remains he points out.
"I have watched it evolve through the years and was very pleased that Sam Malone joined us in early 2013," Tiller told mikemcguff.com. "Now, we are happy to announce the latest member of the Sam Malone Show, JP Pritchard. JP is the ultimate catch for AM 1070."
