ANONYMOUSEATER at Food in Houston writes about the rise and apparent semi-fall of the Houston food blog scene. Supposedly there was a great community feel a few years ago, lots of blogs springing up and then it all kind of started dying.
Then again I wonder if those negative rumors I've heard from multiple sources are true and contributed to this? Supposedly some bloggers were demanding free food from restaurants for good reviews. Don't know if this is true for Houston, but it is something food bloggers in other cities are trying to address.
I like to eat. I like to eat out. I have made top ten restaurant lists for abc13.com, but I don't think I would make a good food blogger. Half the time I can't remember what I had to eat at a fancy restaurant. Essentially my wife is my food diary. We go somewhere and I ask her if I had a particular dish in the past. Kind of sad actually. Drinking is not even usually involved!
