KHOU-TV Channel 11 has won twelve EMMY Awards from the Lone Star Chapter of the National Television Academy – once again, more than any other television station in Houston. The 2009 awards, which recognize news excellence across the state of Texas, were announced during a ceremony on October 17th in Dallas.
KHOU went into the night with a whopping 35 nominations, topping all other stations in its market. The 11 News team took home the EMMY for best Team Coverage in recognition of its outstanding work during Hurricane Ike. Of the dozen honors, five were presented to veteran reporter Brad Woodard, an impressive feat that included awards for Breaking News, Specialty Assignment Report, Weather Story, On-Camera Talent and Writing.
