KEYE 42 Austin loses morning newscast for Mix 94.7 radio show

Here is one more example of how the TV news business is changing. KEYE 42 in Austin is dumping its morning newscast and instead putting a live radio show on TV. Yes you read that right. No KEYE morning news.

Instead we will watch KAMX Mix 94.7's JB and Sandy Show live with several cameras installed in the radio station's studios. The GM of KEYE believes there is already enough morning news in Austin:

“As most of our viewers are aware, Austin has four great television news morning shows that are all essentially the same," said Amy Villarreal, president and general manager of KEYE. "Through KEYE’s unique partnership with Entercom, KAMX, and the JB and Sandy radio morning show, we will offer our early morning Central Texas viewers and advertisers an innovative, entertaining approach to morning television.”

The Mix 94.7 JB and Sandy Show will start at 6am with the CBS Early show coming on at 7am. The current anchors will be moved to the 4am show and to the new Telemundo programming I told you will be on 42.2.

Wow.
