La Ley 92.1 FM – La NEW radio station Que Manda en Houston – KROI-FM was announced as the replacement for the Praise 92.1 back in December 2024.
The new station is debuting former longtime Qué Buena 102.9 FM KLTN and syndicated personality Raúl Brindis.
Now FOX 26 KRIV's Sherman Desselle is reporting that the new radio station believes its transmitter was sabotaged.
"I can understand some people stealing copper...that's very normal," Brindis told KRIV. "It's expensive, but this is different. It looks very intentional. I have more than 30 years in the radio and TV industry...maybe some people have been affected...business, something like that."
The station is now running with a backup system.
Police are investigating and station owner Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
RadioInsight reports that La Ley 92.1 had a ratings increase from 0.8 to 2.4 in its first month on air. The station has not been that highly rated since the Boom 92 format.
