Katherine Marchand joins abc13 KTRK

NewsChannel 9 WTVC reporter Katherine Marchand joins abc13 KTRK

NewsChannel 9 WTVC Chattanooga, Tennessee reporter Katherine Marchand has posted on social media she will be joining abc13 KTRK in the same position.

"The last three years in Chattanooga have made a huge impact on my life," Marchand said on Facebook. "The people here not only helped me grow as a journalist but have also become my closest friends. I'm sad to leave them and the beautiful city that I love so much (there's no Walnut Street Bridge in Houston!), but I'm so excited for this new opportunity."

Marchand spent three years at WTVC (Sinclair Broadcast Group owned station) where she started her reporting careers.

Before that, she interned at CNN's “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” and WSB Atlanta.

Outside of journalism, Marchand also interned at the White House in the Communications Department where assisted with taped/live interviews of President Barack Obama and other administration officials. According to her station's bio, she was at the White House during the roll out of the Affordable Care Act and the government shutdown. She described it, "As a very interesting time to be in Washington!"

If spending time with the president doesn't look good enough on your LinkedIn, then you should read about Marchand's academic career.

Marchand might be the first reporter I've written about that earned an industrial engineering degree. And she earned it with a 4.0 GPA from Georgia Tech! Wow! Not only that, but she was the valedictorian of her class at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia.
