Oscar E. Garcia named KIII Corpus Christi News Director

KIII-TV, a TEGNA Company, announced today that Oscar E. Garcia has been named News Director for the Nielsen-Rated #1 News Team in South Texas. Mr. Garcia will begin his position July 18, 2016.

Mr. Garcia started his television news career more than ten years ago in El Paso, Texas, working his way through Editor, Reporter, Producer and ultimately Executive Producer for KFOX14/CBS4. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from New Mexico State University. One in Mass Communications and another BA in Spanish. He also has three Lone Star Emmy nominations under his belt for “Best Newscast” as producer.

“Managing an active and progressive newsroom is a constant challenge and I enjoy discussing ways to keep every news staff member informed and energized.” said Garcia. “In today’s media world, news is on all screens and devices. It’s my focus to keep all important news, weather and sports information in front of all viewers, all the time.”

“Oscar has received praise from peers and news organizations alike and we are proud to present a newscast in the best interest of our viewers,” said Dan Robbins, KIII-TV President and General Manager. “We will continue to dedicate our staff and resources to bringing our viewers information they can trust.”
