VIDEO: Dominique Sachse doing traffic on KPRC 1993 #TBT

Throw yourself back to 1993, when Dominique Sachse was starting off at KPRC 2 as the morning traffic anchor

I broke social media's rules this week by posting a Throwback Tuesday with Dave Ward interviewing President George Bush, so I'm correcting things with a real Throwback Thursday. Now way am I getting a #TBT citation!

Here is a #TBT people are always jonesing for...early video of Dominique Sachse's television career.

That's right, Ms. Sachse started off at KPRC 2 doing morning traffic and you can see it for yourself in this clip. She was on the air with anchor Dan O'Rourke and meteorologist Roland Galvan who died at the age of 48 back in 2005.

I've probably told this story before, but I met Sachse back then when I was picking up some tape at KPRC for my boss. She was very nice and showed me around the channel 2 studio a bit.

Sachse first got some fame in the Houston market as a DJ on Mix 96.5 KHMX.

Another famous KPRC traffic anchor, you might have heard of her, Jennifer Reyna, also got her start in radio at 101 KLOL. You'll see people occasionally posting photos of her Miss Rockwear 2003 win.

By the way, if you have any audio, photos, paraphernalia from the 101 KLOL days, email me! I need to see them for my documentary on the iconic Houston rock station! I'm also looking for 97 Rock and 100.3 KILT rock stuff too!

  1. Besides the nose, eyes, bust, cheeks, ego, rings, hair...she hasn't changed a bit.

    1. Also, I think her eyebrows are now tattoos and not a sliver of hair remains, based on that one McGuff video weeks ago..

  2. The pic looks even different than the one they ran in the Chronicle. It was when she was on the radio. At least, this one kind of resembles her. The other one looked like a totally different person, but it was her.

  3. That picture on the right is like 6 years old and massively photoshopped. As Cleveland Brown says on Family Guy, "That's nasty!"

  4. I am amazed at how much she's changed over time. I wasn't in this market when she started on channel 2, but I do think she's very capable.

  5. Wow...what a throwback....Wow and to see Roland Galvan. He died so young. I was blessed to have known him.

  6. She is a different person now, literally. Her looks, especially her bust, are the best money for plastic surgery can buy.

    1. She may look different but she's still the same, as Bkb Seger once sang. And that's not a compliment to her.

  7. All of your comments seem so nasty and mean spirited. Y'all need to start lifting people instead of knocking them down. Love conquers all.

    1. so, basically telling the truth is " nasty" and " mean-spirited." Well, I guess that is better than being fake like you. Is it fair that someone only gets jobs based on the fact that they had tons of plastic surgery, or wear a lot of makeup? I'm talking about people in general. I think you have to understand that not everyone is a fool like you, who believes everything they see and not everyone is attracted to fakeness, like you! It's that simple! It's funny how women like you are cool with getting things for the way you " appear" to look, but when someone calls you out, you think they are mean and you can't handle it.

  8. As long as incompetent "anchors" like today's Noon jokefest lineup of Donchey and Reyna are put on air, some will see Sachse as a good anchor, simply because Dom can at least read.
Whoever hired D&R should be fired.

  9. McGuff, do you have tape of Sachse allegedly calling a black KPRC weather woman a "Monkey"? My coworker said this happened and is why she hates Sachse. Any truth?

    1. I've never seen tape of the incident and wasn't living in Houston when it happened. At the time it happened, The Houston Press wrote an article about it. You can read about it here (scroll down to the middle):

    2. I read the article referenced to above, and if the incident was to taken into context of the entire conversation, I think Dom is getting a bad rap. A gentlemen spoke about banana peels, and then Dom made a comment about "monkeying around" as that they all like to have a good time. And then she made the comment about the other woman liking to monkey around the most, meaning she likes to play pranks on people and have a good time. Now honestly, what was so wrong about that? If the woman who was referred to as a monkey would have been white, no one would have thought twice about it.
