Telemundo Houston / KTMD today announced that Carlos Robles has been named Meteorologist for Telemundo Houston’s weekday newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo Houston at 4:30 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM.

Robles, who will make his on-air debut today, will join Telemundo Houston’s newly rebranded weather team, La Autoridad en el Tiempo (Weather Authority), as well as News Anchors Martin Berlanga and Paulina Sodi to deliver the most-up-to-date weather forecasts, news and information to Spanish-speaking viewers in Houston.

“Carlos is a seasoned Meteorologist with first-hand experience in forecasting weather for our community for nearly a decade,” said Jerry Vazquez, Vice President of News, Telemundo Houston. “His knowledge about Houston’s unique weather threats, coupled with his extensive meteorological background, will help Telemundo Houston deliver the local breaking news and weather forecasts the way our viewers deserve and help our station become the Weather Authority our communities can trust.”

Prior to joining Telemundo Houston, Robles worked as a Meteorologist for Univision 45 Houston / KXLN for nine years. Before this, Robles worked as a Weather Anchor for Univision Puerto Rico / WLII from 2003 to 2007. Throughout his career, Robles has had direct experience forecasting severe weather threats and events that involved massive flooding, tornadoes and hurricanes, including Hurricane Ike (2008). An award-winning journalist, Robles was recognized with an Emmy® award for “Outstanding Health/Science – News Series” for his “Zero Gravedad (Zero Gravity)” report.

Robles earned his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies from the University of Puerto Rico. He also earned a degree in Meteorology, Geological and Earth Sciences and Geosciences from Mississippi State University.

In addition to providing weather forecasts on Telemundo Houston’s local newscasts, the station’s La Autoridad en el Tiempo (Weather Authority) team can also provide viewers with weather forecasts while they are on the go, with the recently launched and newly redesigned digital platforms that include an enhanced weather experience and up-to-the-minute severe weather push alerts on the station’s mobile and app platforms. Viewers can download the free Telemundo Houston apps on iTunes and Google Play stores.
