New KPRC 2 assistant news director + KMJQ's Jeff Harrison, KKRW's Kelly Ryan & more

Houston and Texas radio and TV job changes in early 2014

After two years as KPRC 2 assistant news director, sources tell me Chris Best is moving on to pursue news director opportunities. Best previously worked at CBS stations KTVT 11/KTXA 21 in the Dallas-Fort Worth TV market and WKMG Orlando. According to an internal memo, Best will be replaced by WDIV 4 Detroit (KPRC Post-Newsweek sister station) executive producer Rhonda Errer. Also in that memo, KPRC executive producer Kasi Stunson upgrades to senior executive producer.

Jeff Harrison
Jeff Harrison, the Program Director and Afternoon Drive Air Personality for Majic 102.1 KMJQ in Houston, has left the building. In fact, Harrison took off about two months ago and was replaced by station staffer 'Funky' Larry Jones a station rep tells me. Through his career, Harrison worked at KVCR in San Bernardino, California, WAMM-FM Flint and Michigan where he won Billboard Magazine's Air Personality of the Year Award. He also worked at KDIA San Francisco, KBLX/KRE Berkley and KTWV San Francisco.

Former 93.7 The Arrow KKRW DJ Kelly Ryan will re-join Cox Radio Houston working for both 107.5 The Eagle KGLK and 93Q KKBQ.

Former KPRC 2 assignments editor Joe Segura joins News 92FM KROI as assignments manager.

The Houston Chronicle's Brian Rogers changed his Twitter bio from Courthouse reporter to Investigative reporter for the paper.

JOEY HORTA to Weekend Anchor and Reporter at KSEE in Fresno (from KGBT, Harlingen). Horta is represented by Steve Swienckowski at DCA Talent.

I'm not a mind reader. Please let me know of any other personnel changes hitting the Houston & Texas media scene.
