What does the fox say? He says there are a lot of changes coming to Fox 26 KRIV.
I learn this after coming back from an East Texas trip where I had a discussion about bull and hog field castration. I've had TV managers try to do a similar procedure on me, although I bet it is done more humanly in East Texas. And for those who are concerned, don't worry, I still have a pair.
Chris Stipes |
Back to KRIV, morning anchor Chris Stipes announced twice on Facebook that he is now the weekend anchor.
"Hey everybody the weekend is finally here," Stipes first posted. "That means it's a chance for you to catch me on my new assignment at Fox 26! No more early mornings for me... I'll be anchoring the weekend newscasts at 5pm & 9pm. Please tune in!"
Clearly by the exclamations he seems happy about not starting his newscast at 4am anymore.
That means we won't see this image anymore between Stipes and new morning anchor Rita Garcia. In fact, Stipes is swapping jobs with Garcia who was just recently the solo weekend anchor at the Fox owned and operated station.
This also means Stipes will now work the same days as his wife, Elissa Rivas, who is weekend morning anchor for KTRK abc13.
Don't think the changes stop with Stipes though. Multiple sources tell me the reporter schedules will change at the beginning of 2014. Most of the reporters will leave the day shift and start working the night shift at 1:30pm and report for both the 5pm and 9pm newscasts.
Several sources have told me that former morning reporter John Donnelly returns to that shift and most likely joined by newcomer Rashi Vats.
Also, I've had lots of questions about the whereabouts of Fox 26 reporter Ford Atkinson. Fox Television Stations tells me he is on vacation.
