Fox 26 KRIV's Natalie Bomke heading to WFLD Chicago Fox 32

Lots of you have been asking me if Fox 26 KRIV is getting a new set since the newscasts have apparently moved into the newsroom.

But it really sounds like the Fox owned and operated station will actually need a new anchor soon even more.

Scott Jones over at FTV posted that our own Natalie Bomke is heading back home to Illinois to work at Chicago Fox owned station WFLD. What a coincidence. Former Fox 26 KRIV News Director Tom Doerr moved to WFLD Chicago Fox 32 earlier this year.

According to her bio, before coming to Fox 26 in March 2010, Bomke co-anchored FOX40 KTXL in Sacramento, California. She also worked at WICD-TV in Champaign and WICS-TV in Springfield which are both located in Illinois.

With her new job, she will be able to catch the Illinois Fighting Illini games at her alma mater the University of Illinois.

Natalie told mikemcguff.com last year that she would rather take our heat than her hometown's cold.

"Growing up in Central Illinois, I’d take the heat over waking up in the mid-30’s any day," Bomke told me. "Using a credit card to scrape ice off your windshield, wearing heels and two pairs of pantyhose, is not my idea of a good time. But, I do miss my family."

She also told me that she liked the shirtless men at Memorial Park.

Well, at least now she can maybe watch Da Bears guys running shirtless.

UPDATE
A representative for FOX Television Stations tells me Bomke will anchor weekdays from 5-7am alongside Dawn Hasbrouck on WFLD's "Good Day Chicago." Bomke replaces Kori Chambers who is leaving for WPIX New York according to TV Spy.

UPDATE 2
Chicago media blogger Robert Feder asks if Bomke is the future main anchor for WFLD.
