KIAH 39 General Manager Roger Bare Expands Responsibilities to KDAF 33 Dallas-Fort Worth
Tribune Broadcasting today announced that Roger Bare has been named Senior Vice President/General Manager of the company’s Dallas television station, KDAF-TV, effective Oct. 11.
Bare succeeds Joe Young, who announced his retirement earlier this week.
Bare will assume oversight responsibility for the station in addition to his current duties as General Manager of Tribune’s Houston television station, KIAH-TV. He will continue to report to Larry Wert, Tribune Broadcasting’s President of Broadcast Media.
“Roger has been extremely successful running our station in Houston and serving the community there,” said Wert. “He’s smart, experienced, and has great instincts for what will work and how to grow audience. Importantly, he knows the Texas marketplace.”
Bare has served as Vice President/General Manager of KIAH-TV since April, 2004. This year, under his leadership the station won the prestigious Bonner McLean Public Service Award from the Texas Association of Broadcasters. Bare has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at the station since joining it in 1992. Prior to being named Vice President/General Manager, Bare served as KIAH-TV’s general sales manager for six years.
“Dallas is a great market and I look forward to the support and ideas of the talented and creative people at KDAF-TV and KIAH-TV as we charge forward in the weeks ahead,” said Bare.
Bare has been a member of the American Advertising Federation/Houston since 1996, serves as an advisory member for the Media Alliance/Houston, and sits on the board of Directors for the Houston chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He received his degree in advertising from Marshall University in West Virginia.
